It's a bit fancier for us too, as it'll support 2160p resolutions. But now, yep, Gears of War 4 proper is coming our way. Or they've slung us cut-down versions, like the singleplayer-only Forza 6 Apex. Gears of War: Ultimate Edition came our way earlier this year, revamping of the first game, but Microsoft have held back on new games in their main series. Its co-op campaign and other co-op modes will support cross-platform multiplayer too. It'll be an 'Xbox Play Anywhere' game, which means that folks who buy it digitally get it on both platforms, with progress and achievements shared between them. Gears of War 4 will launch for Windows 10 and Xbone in October, and both versions are tied together. If you don't, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition sounds like a pretty good deal.Microsoft are certainly starting to bring their big guns from Xbox One to PC - big guns with chainsaws on 'em and everything. You can even keep all your previously-saved files, game add-ons, achievements and play with friends on Xbox Live no matter which Xbox console they're on. So, if you already own the games, you can play them on Xbox One. Today's announcement confirms all Gears of War games get Backward Compatibility when it launches later this year. There's access to the Gears of War 4 multiplayer beta, too. Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is the remaster of the original game, and includes rebuilt cinematics, new achievements as well as new maps, modes and missions. Small print: you have to play Ultimate Edition on Xbox Live at some point from 25th August to 31st December 2015 to access Gears of War, Gears of War 2, Gears of War 3 and Gears of War: Judgment in Backward Compatibility when the feature launches this Autumn. If you buy Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, or the Xbox One Gears of War: Ultimate Edition Bundle, you unlock the entire Gears collection via Xbox One Backward Compatibility. Gears of War: Ultimate Edition comes with all the Gears of War games, Microsoft has announced.
